Welcome! I’m Kassie, Teaching Faculty at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida. I  spend my work time teaching first-year engineers, directing FSU’s Engineering Living and Learning Community, and helping undergraduates focus their work on the big challenges that we collectively face as the director of the Gulf Scholars and Grand Challenges Scholars Programs.

My “big challenge” continues to be finding ways to equitably and effectively respond to climate change and I get to work with amazing early-career scholars and engineers on this challenge. We have done work with the NOAA RESTORE Science Program, the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Gulf Research Program, and in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratory. Our work centers people, meaningful connections, outcomes, and research in that order.
